WHITE WIDOW COMICS

Nineteen years ago, White Widow (Gabrielle Garcia) was born with a rare genetic disease known as Krabbe Disease, also known as globoid cell leukodystrophy. It is a degenerative genetic disease that affects the nervous system. Her mutation in her GALC gene means she doesn’t produce enough of the enzyme galactosylceramidase. This deficiency would have led to her death as an infant.
Her parents both worked for the same psuedo-government agency (known only as THE GROUP) that created Duel Identity. Her mother, Hinata Garcia, who specializes in gene splicing research, stole some experimental treatments she was researching with regard to the rare white widow spider. Using
technology Gabrielle’s father, Cisco Garcia developed -- they injected their infant
daughter, and it worked. The only seeming side effect, was she developed white hair. Her parents never revealed the illness to anyone -- not even Gabrielle.
Today, Gabrielle (sometimes called “Gabby”) is in her sophomore year at college at NYU where she is pursuing a Computer Science degree. All seems fine until she faints during intramural volleyball practice and develops a nasty nosebleed and bruises. Her parents examine her and find that the treatment she received as a baby, is beginning to break down.
Her father decides to steal an experimental version of the nanotech that is utilized by Artemis (from Duel Identity) to stabilize her. Unknown to Gabrielle, her parents succeed in stealing the tech, but are caught trying to escape. Hinata is captured, and Cisco, who is mortally wounded, manages to escape. He makes it back to Gabrielle in time to inject her with the nanotech stabilizers before passing out – seemingly dead.
The nanotech reacts strangely with the already-present White Widow DNA splice and the results turn her into the WHITE WIDOW... a superhuman with a strange combination of bio-tech and spider-like abilities. When agents confronted her, her powers activated, and she instinctively killed the agents attacking her in self-defense. She fled before their backup arrived, leaving her father’s dead body and her old
life behind.
Now, White Widow is being hunted by the THE GROUP as she is trying to find her mother... if she’s even alive. This will, of course, bring her into conflict with most of the “Absolute Comic Universe” cast of characters such as Artemis, Andromeda, Northern Cross, AMPED and the lead character of rival organization IMBC (from upcoming title I MAKE BOYS CRY).
She will have to discover if she is a hero, a villain, a fugitive, or a little of each...
